Therapy for women · Denver & Colorado

Make room
for what you need.

You may be attentive to what other people want while finding it harder to hear your own preferences. Therapy can be a place to think about relationships, expectations, and the way you treat yourself.

Begin with your own experience

We can talk about dating, relationship patterns, anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, work, caregiving, or a change in your life. You don’t need to fit a particular story about what it means to be a woman.

Sometimes the concern is clear. Sometimes you know you feel stretched, lonely, resentful, or unlike yourself, and want help understanding why.

Your needs in a relationship

Think of a recent moment when you agreed to something while feeling unsure. Ask yourself:

  1. What did I want or need in that moment?
  2. What did I worry would happen if I said it?
  3. What is one way I could express it next time?

Notice your answer before deciding what to do. Understanding what makes speaking up difficult can help us work toward a response that fits you.

Feedback and something useful to take away

I take an active part in our conversations. I listen, ask questions, offer feedback, and help you consider other perspectives. We might explore a pattern, think through a decision, or practice wording for a conversation.

We focus on what is happening now and bring in the past when it helps. Sometimes a useful takeaway is a new understanding; sometimes it is a boundary, a different perspective, or something new to try.

A question to take with you

What would treating yourself with care change about something you are accepting, asking for, or avoiding in a relationship?

You can bring your answer—or your disagreement with the video—into a conversation. There is room for your own experience.
